Deleted scenes From Alien

     Watching deleted, alternate or alternative scenes from a favorite film can often be a mixed bag of emotions for die-hard fans. On the one hand, the experience can be thrilling if it helps fans fill in the blanks, give greater understanding to characters' motivations or bring to the viewers action that had taken place off screen in the original version. They can give context to a scene, reveal deeper meaning and show events from a different perspective. However, sometimes it can be a frustrating experience as watching deleted scenes can cause a fan to wonder why it hadn’t been included in the original finished product, imagining ‘what could have been?’ if they feel the inclusion of the scene or different cut would have improved on the original film.  

     The deleted, unfinished, or re-edited scenes in the YouTube videos linked below can do both. Many of the clips linked below could have been used as they are with either the different dialogue or extended scenes included. Others were clearly unfinished or were just walkthroughs by the actors. Some of these were lovingly crafted by fans using stills, the screenplay, unfinished clips, walk-throughs by the actors, test screens, photos, other media, art work, writer’s or director’s notes and in some cases, the fans’ imagination. A tremendous amount of work obviously went into these works! Great appreciation is due to all for their parts in creating, editing or posting these video clips. Special recognition goes to Steve Nyland who crafted a depiction of Dallas, Kane and Lambert leaving the Nostromo, traversing the landscape of LV-426, entering the spacecraft and finding the Space Jockey. It was done with obvious skill, flair and a wry sense of humor. (“I like griping.”) Please watch this video.      These videos are linked in the closest order possible to the original film’s timeline. Where necessary explanations are given. In some cases, there are clips that are compilations of a number of scenes that run together or there is more than one version of a deleted or alternate scene so there may be overlap. These videos are also of different picture or sound quality and volume levels may vary.
